03 | Marguerite Parkway Master Plan | Mission Viejo CA | Master Planning
Brief: The City of Mission Viejo retained LandArcWest to develop a master plan for the revitalization of the 10-mile stretch of Marguerite Parkway, the city’s central spine. The master plan defined Marguerite into four sections: Northen Residential, Civic Core, Southern Residential, and Southern Commercial. Each section was designed with a unique identity while maintaining an overall cohesiveness.
Role: As project manager, I was the key orchestrator and designer for the 150-page master plan booklet. I managed and produced all project analysis and graphic information. I met directly with the city’s chief landscape architect to discuss the plan program and communication direction.
Challenges: The master plan proposed large scale developments to the city’s urban core, and as a public document it was to be intensely scrutinized by both the public and city officials. The sheer size of the project made it a challenge graphically to communicate the concepts to city residents as well as developers and city officials.
